09:09 am - A farewell tribute to the retiring Kerry Fraser
Sharks fans weren't the only ones who thought he was biased against their team. :)

Down Goes Brown: A fond farewell to the retiring Kerry Fraser
Taught you at an early age that life is unfair, justice is a myth, and that we live in a cold and uncaring universe that will feed you small morsels of hope only to crush and mock you -- all of which most people don't get to find out until they're much older.

Anyone on here in Denver for the Sharks@Avs game tomorrow?

I'm flying in from San Jose and was hoping to meet up with other Sharks fans either before or after the game.

Maybe this is part of a master plan? This year we choke away the REGULAR SEASON, leaving us stress-free and choked-out for the playoffs?

11:38 am - Sharks Ringtones
I recently lost my computer and all my sound files. When I re-synced my iPhone on my new computer I lost all my ringtones.

Didn't somebody have some Sharks related ringtones? I'd love to re-install them!

Thanks!

04:22 pm - [Game Day] Game 38: Anaheim at San Jose (12/26/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavillion playing the Anaheim Ducks.

Game starts at 7:30pm PST and will be available on television in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA and CSN-CA (HD), the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Merry Christmas everyone. The Sharks come off their Christmas break having won three in a row, after a five game winless skid, to face the last opponent they played at home, their intrastate rivals, the Ducks. Appropriate, then, that it's a Boxing Day tilt, since if last week's game was any indications, tempers may flare again tonight.

No word as to whether or not either Shelley or Staubitz have cleared doctors' approval to return to the line-up. Nabokov, unsurprisingly named to the Russian Olympic team yesterday, will likely be in nets; more surprisingly is that offseason pick-up Jed Ortmeyer will start the game again on the second line with Clowe and Pavelski--leaving Setoguchi mired in the bottom two lines, still struggling since his second return from his lower body injury.

It's raining in the Bay Area today, which means the ice is likely going to be sloppy and skating conditions poor. Turnovers will probably be plentiful, and plenty of weird bounces.

Let's go Sharks!

04:00 pm - [Game Day] Game 37: San Jose at Chicago (12/22/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at the United center playing the Chicago Blackhawks.

Game starts at 5:00pm PST and will be available on television in the SF Bay Area and nationally in the U.S. only on VERSUS and in Canada on TSN2, the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Haven't we been here before? A much hyped match-up between the two top teams in the West (tied in points, Chicago in first after two tiebreakers), this time taking place in the Windy City and on national television! Yay! </sarcasm>

With so much time off last week and three days downtime with the holidays, expect Nabokov to be in nets again in this important re-match, trying to salve the wounds from that pre-Thanksgiving 7-2 debacle.

Let's go Sharks!

04:37 pm - [Game Day] Game 31: Calgary at San Jose (12/5/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavillion playing the Calgary Flames.

Game starts at 7:00pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA (or P'rhaps CSN-BA+, as my TiVo thinks it is) and CSN-CA (HD), in the U.S. on NHL Network, and nationally in Canada on CBC, the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

The Sharks mark down Canadian Team #4 in the past two weeks when the Flames roll into town for their first of four games against the Sharks this season coming off a 2-1 loss to the Coyotes in Phoenix Thursday night.

Heatley is questionable for the game after coming down with flu-like symptoms; Derek Joslin and Ryan Vesce are recalled again to fill in spots in the line-up. Expect in this game of Division leaders to see old rivals Kiprusoff and Nabokov in net.

The Sharks will again be collecting new and unwrapped toys at both tonight's game for Toys for Tots. If you're going to either, consider donating. Toys and items for older children (age 13-17) are especially in need.

04:35 pm - [Game Day] Game 30: St. Louis at San Jose (12/3/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavillion playing the St. Louis Blues.

Game starts at 7:30pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA and CSN-CA (HD), the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Ortmeyer misses his first game of the season tonight with the dreaded upper body injury. Nominally, this moves Setoguchi up to replace him on the third line, and Vesce is back up from Worcester taking Seto's spot on the fourth line. Defense remains pat--newcomer Jay Leach is working his way in--and Nabokov in nets.

The Sharks will be collecting new and unwrapped toys at both tonight's and Saturday night's games for Toys for Tots. If you're going to either, consider donating. Toys and items for older children (age 13-17) are especially in need.

06:08 pm - [Game Day] Game 29: Ottawa at San Jose (12/1/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavillion playing the Ottawa Senators.

Game starts at 7:30pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA and CSN-CA (HD), the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Completing a Canadian trifecta, the Sharks return home for a *gasp* five game home stand, as they play a huge number of home games over the next couple of months.

Greiss in net, Michalek and Cheechoo back on the ice at the Tank, wearing enemy black and red.

Boo.

12:02 pm - [Game Day] Game 28: San Jose at Vancouver (11/29/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at GM Place playing the Vancouver Canucks.

Game starts at 7:00pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA, the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Rob Blake is back, and Joslin wins out on the wild card spot on defense. Demers makes his first trip back to Worcester this season, accompanied by Ferriero with speculation being that Setoguchi will return from IR again. If so, he's expected to be on a line with roommate Torrey Mitchell for the first time.

The Canucks are in a back-to-back situation, coming off a 7-3 pasting of division rival Edmonton last night on HNIC, who were in turn on back-to-backs having played the Sharks on Friday. It'll be kind of interesting to see if the Sharks can take advantage of their day of rest to complete the triangle with a sweep.

Let's go Sharks!

01:47 pm - [Game Day] Game 27: San Jose at Edmonton (11/27/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at Rexall Place playing the Edmonton Oilers.

Game starts at 6:30pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA, the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Torrey Mitchell makes his return to the ice for his first regular season game in 108 match-ups, and Dany Heatley faces a fanbase feeling spurned by a player who never wore their logo.

Out of Edmonton, rumor has it that Alex Hemsky will be having season-ending shoulder surgery, and off-season acquisition Nikolai Khabibulin is day-to-day with back spasms, ceding his crease to rookie Jeff Deslauriers.

04:39 pm - [Game Day] Game 26: Chicago at San Jose (11/25/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavillion playing the Chicago Blackhawks.

Game starts at 7:30pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA and CSN-CA (HD), the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

It's another battle of Western Conference titans as the Blackhawks, on a seven game win streak, welcome Marian Hossa to their roster for his first game of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery in the offseason after signing a mega-contract with them as a free agent.

Great.

Dan Boyle says he won't miss such an important game, despite missing the last two days of practice due to an undisclosed injury suffered while blocking a shot in Anaheim; Setoguchi, Blake, Mitchell, and Shelley remain on IR, and Staubitz on the shelf with a broken face. Ferriero continues to rack up the frequent flier miles with yet another recall, Callahan and Zalewski makes their second trips up this season to join Couture, McGinn, McLaren, and Joslin as the "call-ups" from Worcester.

Expect Nabokov to be in nets for a game that most of the national hockey pundits have been touting all week as "must see TV" tonight, before they depart (again) on a road trip.

Let's go Sharks!

04:27 pm - [Game Day] Game 25: San Jose at Anaheim (11/21/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at the Honda Center playing the Anaheim Ducks.

Game starts at 7:00pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA and CSN-CA (HD), the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Couture is out with the flu, Ryan Vesce is back from Worcester (who is suffering badly with so many players up, having lost seven in the row)--to make room, Setoguchi is on IR, retroactive to when he was re-injured. Nabokov in net.

As for the Ducks, let us simply quietly reflect on a fact: last in the West.

05:58 pm - [Game Day] Game 24: Philadelphia at San Jose (11/20/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavillion playing the Philadelphia Flyers.

Game starts at 7:00pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA and CSN-CA (HD), the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Sharks are fielding a similar line-up as Tuesday's game, with Setoguchi still on the shelf. The last game against the Flyers in Philly was a battle of the back-ups; tonight, the big guns start in goal, Nabokov vs. Emery.

Let's go Sharks!

01:55 pm - [Game Day] Game 23: San Jose at Nashville (11/17/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at the Sommet Center playing the Nashville Predators.

Game starts at 5:00pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on RADIO-ONLY (it's not being televised in neither market, so Center Ice subscribers are SOL as well) at the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Setoguchi aggravated the lower body injury that kept him out for two weeks in the Chicago game, so he's out tonight; also, Brad Staubitz joins the ranks of the wounded, after taking a puck in the face during the optional practice yesterday. To replace them, the Sharks have recalled Ferriero, Couture, and McLaren Comma Frazer, who will form the fourth line--and to replace Seto, Clowe moves up to the first line (again), Malhotra to the second (again), and McGinn reunites with Nichol and Ortmeyer (again). Greiss will be in nets for his second game in a week, against the Predators (again).

And then I leave you with this, Allan Muir's comments about the Sharks in this week's SI Power Rankings:
This week: 2 / Last week: 1 : Safe to assume that Todd McLellan was a little frustrated Sunday night after his team blew a two-goal lead on the way to a shootout loss for the second time in a week. Clearly, there's room for improvement in managing letdowns. Still, it's tough to be critical of a team that hasn't lost in regulation in 12 straight and has the best goal differential (+20) in the league. Shoot, if there were an All-Star Game this season, the Sharks would field five of the six starters.

Let's go Sharks!

12:28 pm - [Game Day] Game 22: San Jose at Chicago (11/15/2009)
Here's the Game Day post for discussions regarding tonight's game featuring the San Jose Sharks at the United Center playing the Chicago Blackhawks.

Game starts at 4:00pm PST and will be available in the SF Bay Area on CSN-CA and CSN-CA (HD), the usual radio stations, or online at SJSharks.com or NHL.com's Game Radio page (audio).

Jeremy Roenick Night at the United Center, in this, the first visit by the Sharks to the Windy City since his retirement. Wouldn't be surprised if the TV broadcast contains elements of the ceremony, given the relationship between the two local channels (Comcast SportsNet-owned) and his popularity in the Bay Area.

Line-up is likely to be similar, no idea who will be in nets given the short time between games.

Let's go Sharks!
