SJSharks.com: Enhanced Security for Round 3
For the upcoming Western Conference Final and all San Jose Sharks playoff games moving forward please plan on arriving early to HP Pavilion at San Jose. Enhanced security measures will be enacted including walk-through metal detectors, hand-held scanning wands, pat-down searches and intensified bag searches. All large bags are prohibited, including but not limited to large shopping bags, backpacks, day packs and duffle bags.

To expedite your entrance into HP Pavilion and to enhance your fan experience, we ask you to arrive early (doors open 1 ½ hours before the start of the game) and refrain from bringing unnecessary bags and items.

Bleh. Well, I always knew the Tank had a pretty lax policy about things, but still. Inconvenient for some of us.

I wonder what this is in response to? Shark on ice during round 2? Rioting in Montreal? Specific threats? Just a general shift in policy?

Nuts. It would be interesting if they ever did anything like this in Philly. They sometimes check bags at Flyers games. But they're not too serious. All they have are the hand-held scanning wands. I can usually get a whole meal and snacks into games inside my purse! XD

I always take dinner! Half the time the gate guard asks me what I brought. :)

If I remember right, the last time we made it to the WCF they had the enhanced security too. They'll probably do cavity checks for the SCF.

For me it only sucks for night time games during the week. I usually bring my husband his dinner in an insulated back pack. I'll have to figure something else out for (likely) Tuesday's game.

Just saw in at MurkyNews article that the enhanced measures are a NHL requirement when the games reach the 3rd round.
